The Government of Montserrat is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for the post of Family Support Worker within the Ministry of Health and Social Services, Government of Montserrat.

 

JOB PURPOSE


To assist in the planning and implementation of the Government of Montserrat’s (GOM’s) Social and Community programmes to improve families who are experiencing short or long term problems, by offering practical help, emotional support, and empowering them to address challenges.


RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:


  • Adhering to professional practice standards and legislations, including confidentiality, safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion policies;

     

  • Updating the Senior Social Worker weekly/regularly on matters pertaining to clients;

  • Undertaking regular caseload, review meetings with individuals and families during home and community visits to ensure they are fully supported to progress and achieve desired outcomes;

  • Providing practical home management and budgeting advice to parents;

  • Coaching, mentoring and motivating families to understand the positive benefits of building on their physical and emotional wellbeing through relevant activities;

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date administration of all interactions through referrals, assessments, care plans and case recordings;

  • Making contact with clients in consultation with Senior Social Worker. Assess and review identified needs. Address needs/concerns with family and where necessary refer and liaise with relevant/appropriate agency;

  • Undertaking Initial Assessment of families' needs to identify and plan the support needed to address issues and prevent any problems from escalating;

  • Undertaking regular caseload review meetings with individuals and families during home and community visits to address issues and or challenges to ensure they are fully supported to progress and achieve desired outcomes;

  • Liaising effectively with colleagues, Health, Social Care professionals and multi-agency networks to evaluate caseload needs and the progress that has been made.

     

    CANDIDATES QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE PROFILE


    The applicants must:

     

  • Have a Diploma in children and Family, OR Counselling;


  • Have at least five (5) years related work experience in generic Social Care field to include children, young people, families and the elderly;

  •  Be Computer literate;

  •  Be able to work in a small multicultural community;

  •  Have a flexible approach to work;

  •  Possess the ability to plan and manage projects;

  •  Possess excellent verbal communication and written skills;

  • Have Report Writing Skills;

  • Have an up to date Police Check and  Drivers License

     

    REMUNERATION PACKAGE

     

    The total annual remuneration package for the post of Family Support Worker:

  • Basic Salary in the salary scale R39 – 34, that is,  EC$26,196.00 - EC$32,196.00 per annum (taxable)

  • Allowance:

  • Telephone EC$720.00 p.a. (taxable)

  • Travelling EC$9600.00 p.a. (non-taxable)

    SELECTION PROCESS

    Shortlisted applicants will be invited to participate in a selection process that involves attending one or more interviews and/or assessment centres.  These interviews are designed to assess the skills, competencies and attitudes of the applicant and may be conducted via SKYPE or in person.  The Interviews and/or Assessment centres allow the Selection Panel to draw on more evidence about the applicants than can be derived from the written application.
