Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of Guidance Counsellor, Primary Sector in the Ministry of Education.

JOB PURPOSE

 

To deliver Guidance Counselling/Personal, Moral, and Social Education services to primary school students, and when necessary to parents/guardians.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To provide appropriate Personal, Moral and Social Education (PMSE) to groups of students and individual counseling.
  • To work with the Education Psychologist to facilitate professional development in Guidance and Counselling at the school level.
  • To evaluate the Guidance and Counselling programme at the primary schools.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

·       The applicant must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Counselling or related field from a recognized university.

·       At least 3 (years) working experience at a Primary Institution.

  • Demonstrate personal qualities of understanding others, trust, empathy, maturity, conscientiousness, integrity and initiative; ability to motivate and to uphold the confidentiality ethic/oath.

REMUNERATION/SALARY

Salary is in the scale R22-16, that is, $50,976 - $60,480 per annum. In addition, a travelling allowance of $9600 per annum or ($800 per month) is payable for the purpose of travelling to all of the primary schools in Montserrat as well as to the Pupil Support Unit located in Salem which is the main office for the Counsellors.
