About the Job

The Government of Montserrat is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for the post of Nursery Worker, within the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing and the Environment. 

Job Purpose

To provide quality seedlings to the general public and to maintain the grounds at the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing and the Environment and its associated subdivisions.  

Main Responsibilities, Include the following

  • 1.  To maintain a high standard of sanitation in the nursery to prevent pests and disease.
  • 2.  To sow seeds on a regular basis as directed by the officer in charge.
  • 3.  To improve and maintain the aesthetics of the compound.
  • 4.  To assist with soil mixing.
  • 5.  To keep a log of equipment and arrange maintenance schedules.
  • 6.  To assist with the collection and propagation of seeds and /or seedlings.
  • 7.  To perform any other nursery activity as assigned.

Key Skills Requirement (Experience and Interpersonal)

The applicant should possess:

1.  At minimum, a Secondary School Leaving Certificate.

 

2.  Ability to do manual labour in sunny weather for some hours.

 

3.  Willingness to accept training in plant propagation and related activities.

 

4.  Ability to relate with coworkers and clients.

Terms of Appointment

 

Appointment will be on a permanent basis.

 

 

Remuneration Package

 

Basic Salary

 

The salary scale for the post is R48 -38, that is, EC$21,720.00 to $28,596.00 per annum.
