About the Job

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of Information Technology Teacher, Montserrat Secondary School, within the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs Sports. The successful applicant will be appointed before the commencement of the academic year in 2021/2022, that is, prior to September 2021.

JOB PURPOSE:

To teach Information Technology at CXC CSEC levels at the Montserrat Secondary School.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach specified subject to groups of students as required by the Department of Education or the Head of the school.
  • Prepare students to write overseas examinations such as CXC CSEC;
  • Teach students assigned according to their educational needs thereby providing them with appropriate learning experiences;
  • Plan and prepare the required schemes of work, lesson plans etc. for the effective delivery of the school’s programme;
  • Assess students’ performance on a regular basis, discuss their performance with them and their parents/guardians and advise on the steps to be taken to improve performance;
  • Maintain the required registers and records, reports and other documents as specified by the Department of Education, and report on students’ attendance, behaviour, attainment and progress;
  • Assist with extra curricula activities and the care of the school’s assets;
  • Assist with maintaining discipline among students in schools, on the school grounds or when attending or participating in activities sponsored or approved by the schools;
  • Communicate with parents /guardians and the wider community.

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION

The successful applicant should have;

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related discipline from a recognized university or tertiary institution;
  • A Certificate, Diploma or Associate Degree in Teacher Education from an approved College or University;
  • Relevant practical experience in the field of Information Technology (five years) with a history of teaching and instruction for qualification in Information Technology.


Terms of Appointment


Appointment will be made on a contractual basis in the first instance after which permanent arrangements may be considered.

 

REMUNERATION:

Salary is based on qualification in the scale R28-22, that is, EC$41,760 - EC$50,976 per annum

SELECTION PROCESS

Shortlisted applicants may be invited to participate in a selection process that involves attending one or more interviews and/or assessment centres.  These interviews are designed to assess the skills, competencies and attitudes of the applicant and may be conducted via SKYPE or in person.  The Interviews and/or Assessment Centres allow the Selection Panel to gauge additional evidence about the applicants that may or may not be derived from the written application.
